Donation Information
Donating to 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations is tax-deductible. Om Organics is a project of the San Francisco Foundation - Community Initiative Funds and therefore falls in the 501(c)(3) category.To claim a tax deduction for donations, you simply fill out Schedule A of the IRS 1040 tax form. Your tax savings are determined by your tax bracket; the higher your bracket, the higher your tax savings.
Below are some basics about donating to organizations such as ours. We urge you to consult your tax advisor or the IRS for more information.
- A contribution is deductible in the year in which it is paid.
- If you donate over $250, we provide you with a receipt to submit to the IRS. (The IRS doesn't require receipts for donations of less than $250.)
- If you make a non-cash donation, you may deduct the fair market value of that item, property or service.
