Tasty Bites 11.2.04
Event updates each week; more extensive edibles every other

Election Day
Since it's election day, this week's Bites are a little different, but not a bit less tasty! This weekend try to make the Green Festival; it's really inspiring and a great social gathering too. And then next Thursday is our educational and delicious Future of Food film, panel, and party to benefit Slow Food and Om Organics.

As for now, get out and vote (you can go to any polling place in your county), and we'll see you at one of the many establishments with food & beverage specials for your "I Voted" sticker.

Two organically-inclined restaurants offering specials and broadcasting election coverage are Levende Lounge and Foreign Cinema.

Special Event 11.11 - THE FUTURE OF FOOD

Film -- Panel -- Party

Om Organics and Slow Food are promoting a fun and educational evening on Thursday, November 11th.

At the historic Castro Theater, Alice Waters will introduce the screening of the highly-acclaimed film The Future of Food, followed by a panel discussion and Q&A with filmmaker Deborah Koons Garcia, Ignacio Chapela, and Michael Pollan. Film/panel proceeds benefit Slow Food.

Afterwards, join us at the after-party to talk about the film, meet local farmers, sip sumptuous organic drinks, and taste fresh, organically grown delectables prepared by Sharon Ardiana of Lime Restaurant and Jamie Lloyd of Besos Foods. Ticket price includes food & drink. Party proceeds benefit Om Organics programs in the Bay Area.

Copia, 500 First St. in Napa; $25, includes COPIA day pass
A first impression of Thomas Keller would suggest that he is strictly a foie gras-truffle-lobster-caviar kind of man. In truth, it is bistro cooking that he credits as his favorite, and prompted him to open his second restaurant, Bouchon, in Yountville, CA, just down the street from his now legendary French Laundry. In his latest book, Bouchon (Artisan), Thomas details the finer points of bistro classics such as Onion Soup and Apple Tarte Tatin. Come hear how he elevates these seemingly “ordinary” dishes into food that is anything but. More info: 707-259-1600.

Be a part of the rapidly growing community - learn, listen, chat, shop, eat, drink and just hang out.
