KPFA Free Speech Radio & Pacific Environment Present An Evening With David Suzuki
Fri, 1/28/05, 8:00pm
Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater, 700 Howard St. in SF
$15 General, $12 Students and Seniors
Suzuki has been hailed as Canada's preeminent science broadcaster, globally respected environmental and civil rights activist, scientist, and lecturer, and voted the 5th "Greatest Canadian of All Time" in a 2004 Canadian Broadcasting Corporation poll.
In "The Economy or the Environment: A False Dichotomy," David Suzuki will explore how the trappings of our modern, industrial society have blinded us to the natural world on which we depend. It's undeniable that Earth's atmosphere and weather have changed; that air, water and soil are polluted on a large scale; that our oceans are depleted; and that species are disappearing. Many of us, living in cities, are unaware of the connection between these environmental threats and our own lives. Meanwhile, the forces of globalization render many of these connections invisible.
